About Rubber
Rubber is defined as
- A tough elastic polymeric substance made from the latex of a tropical plant or synthetically.
Natural rubber is made from latex and all other types of rubber are synthetic. The many types of rubber can be very confusing and we have a simplified material guide to help you select the right one for your application but generally speaking the following facts should help.
- There are lots of different rubber types i.e. Natural, Neoprene, Nitrile, EPDM
- The different types have properties that suit them to specific applications
- These are generally available in different hardness grades from soft, medium to hard
- They are mostly black but can be coloured
- Some are available as sponge/foam varieties
Not everything is possible, so if you want a soft yellow sponge neoprene you may be disappointed. Please contact us for expert advice on the type of rubber you need.
